Spiritual Growth through Consistent Community

Here at A Place For Us Ministries International, spiritual growth is at the center of what we do. Our programs are structured to place an emphasis on growing closer to God through personal commitment and community. Read below to learn how our organization is putting an emphasis on community during these difficult times.

Residential Program

Our current Residents have an awesome opportunity to attend several group studies throughout the week. These groups helps to provide our girls with emotional support, love and accountability as they work through various struggles in life. We are blessed with an awesome staff that freely gives of their time and resources to our girls. For example, every Tuesday night one of our incredible board members, Jami, goes to the house to host a Bible study for our Transitional Residents and House Staff. This not only promotes spiritual growth, but develops the relationship between the Residents and between the Residents, Staff and Board. Our Residents also have an in-home Bible study on Mondays with our Lead House Staff, Jenni. Jenni truly goes above and beyond for our girls!

We are also thankful for our community partners! We currently have a Resident who is working with the Adult Education Center of Greenwood to get their GED. We are thankful and excited for these services to continue virtually due to COVID-19 regulations. We are also thankful for the local churches that have welcomed our Residents into their congregations and Bible studies. These opportunities to be apart of the greater Greenwood community are invaluable for our Residents. Lastly, our Residents attend the Joe Hill Prayer Meeting held once a month in Gather. This time allows for intentional prayer as a family and allows them to be prayed over by members of our community. This is a vital time of transformation for our girls.

International Ministry

Our partner in Nicaragua, Pastor Carlos, also speaks of the importance of community. Recently, the community of La Conquista held an outdoor celebration of praise for the good health of the community. There has not been a single case of the Coronavirus in this community! Pastor Carlos headed up this event to praise and worship God and ask Him for continued protection for their community. Local government officials, leaders, pastors and community members attended this event. It was an awesome night full of salvations and spreading the Good News! Pastor Carlos is grateful for the opportunities APFUMI has helped create within the community of La Conquista. He asks that we continue to pray for more opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the community of La Conquista and beyond!
