VISION FOR THE FUTURE
A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
Proverbs 16:9
The Lord has given the board of A Place For Us a vision for the future. APFU believes that these thing will come to pass in the God’s timing as He brings others to share this vision and partner financially with the ministry.
The current vision for the future of APFU includes three main components:
1. APFU would like to develop a transitional housing program for birthmothers who choose to parent. This would allow birthmothers to live independently, yet still have accountability, guidance and support from APFU. As part of the transitional program, birthmothers would have to pay for at least a portion of their living expenses and would be able to stay for approximately one year after the birth of their babies.
2. APFU would like to expand their services to include helping young women facing other issues such as eating disorders and drug and alcohol addictions.
3. APFU has a vision to own the motel located next to “The Alcoves.” This would allow APFU to serve the homeless, those just getting out of jail, individuals recovering from addictions, and others. The back of the motel would house these individuals, while the front of the motel would continue to operate like normal, providing job opportunities for program participants.
As the ministry expands, the program that is already in place for the birthmothers would be expanded to include the others we will be serving. No matter the issue, the answer is always Jesus.
“‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6
