SUMMARY

Birthmothers who have a willing heart for change enter the program at A Place For Us and stay at our beautiful home in Greenwood, SC. The house staff on duty live on site to provide care, supervision and guidance for the birthmothers. Birthmothers are provided with food, shelter and other necessities free of charge during their stay. Birthmothers contribute to the home and learn life skills by helping with chores, menu planning and cooking. Activities such as devotions and game night are also part of the routine at the home.

Regardless of whether birthmothers make a parenting plan or an adoption plan, APFU wants to help them develop the skills they need for long term success. Birthmothers continue their formal education while in the program and the structured environment at the house and the Learning Center allow the birthmothers to learn about budgeting, nutrition, cooking and menu planning, cleaning, parenting and adoption, anger management, and other valuable life skills.
